The Impact of Macro and Micro Social Media Influencers' disclosure

This study published by Samantha Kaya, Rory Mulcahya*, Joy Parkinsonb, aims to address three research questions:

  1. What is the impact of social media influencer type (macro- vs. micro-influencer) on consumer product perceptions and consumer outcomes?

  2. What is the influence of sponsorship disclosure on consumer product perceptions and consumer outcomes?

  3. Do consumer product perceptions (product attractiveness and product knowledge) mediate the interrelationships between social media influencer type, disclosure and purchase intentions?

Australian Motocycle racer Jacob Roulstone, 17, is climbing the ranks in Spain, where he now lives full time to achieve his goal of becoming a MotoGP rider.

" I was given the opportunity to race in the Hawkers European Talent Cup as part of the FIMCEV Junior World Championship with the Leopard Impala Junior team. It has been an incredible experience to see how it’s done in Spain, the competition is immense and the talent is incredible."

Jacob is in the right place to make his career dream of racing MotoGP come true having just been selected to race in the 2022 Red Bull Rookies Cup championship.

"I started road racing in 2017 and just loved it, that’s when I set my sights on making MotoGP my life long career."

In 2019, Jacob competed in the Dorna Idemitsu Asia Talent Cup where he had five top 10 finishes.  Jacob also competed in the Motorcycling Australia Oceania Junior Cup winning two races and finishing 2nd in another.

Since moving to Spain in early 2020, Jacob has been competing in the Hawkers European Talent Cup as part of the FIM Junior GP Championship.

" Definitely the highlight so far has been winning Estoril Round 1 Race 1. It was a great feeling standing on the podium in Spain hearing the Australian anthem and it was also on Anzac Day which was pretty good. I had a lot of friends in Australia watching live and I was glad I could celebrate Anzac Day like that."

2022 will see Jacob competing in the Red Bull Rookies Cup starting in Portimao Portugal in April, and ending in Aragon Spain in September. At the same time, he will be stepping up to a new class in the FIM Junior GP - Moto 3 Junior World Championship.

"These really are amazing opportunities, I hope to improve in every race and continually move to towards the end goal of racing Moto GP for Australia."
